Tour the dashboard
A quick map of where everything lives so you can find your way around.
When you log in, you land on the Dashboard. What you see depends on your role — but the layout is the same for everyone:
- Left sidebar — the main menu. Clicking an item opens a section.
- Top bar — your name, your status (checked in / not checked in), notifications, and a search box.
- Main area — whatever section you're in.
What's in the sidebar
The sidebar is grouped into sections so you can find things fast. Different roles see different items:

Don't see something you expect? Permissions decide what you can access. Ask your Manager to grant canAccessFinance or canAccessForge if you need finance or Forge access. See Managing permissions.
What's at the top
- Your status pill — shows whether you're checked in for the day. Click it to check in or check out (employees only).
- Search (⌘K) — instantly jump to any person, payroll month, or feature.
- Notification bell — alerts for leave decisions, expense approvals, payroll updates.
- Your avatar — open your profile, change your password, or sign out.
What's on the dashboard itself
The dashboard shows the four numbers you check most often, plus a 12-month summary table. The exact cards differ by role:
- Manager / HR — Revenue, Expenses, Net Profit, Profit Margin
- Employee — Today's status, leave balance, recent notifications
Use the month / year picker in the top right to jump to any period.
Stuck on what a number means? Click the small ? info icon next to any column header. Every metric in TracefyHR has an explanation tooltip — no need to memorise definitions.
